When hip hop and technology join forces, you get an augmented reality video.
Last week, Durag Dynasty released a new single. The trio, consisting of Planet Asia, Killer Ben, and TriState brought Domo Genesis along for “Class Picture.” Produced by The Alchemist, “Class Picture” is a soul sample-based joint with three solid verses. Planet Asia starts it off with his classic flow, this time, with a much smoother delivery. Domo Genesis follows up Asia’s verse with a smooth verse of his own. And Killer Ben finishes “Class Picture” off the right way. But not only is the song dope, the video rollout is also interesting.
Durag Dynasty released the “Class Picture” video via augmented reality. Augmented reality is a “term describing content that blends the real world with virtual elements.” With the help of the Hunt AR App, an app specializing in “crafting custom, innovative and never-before-seen experiences through smartphone development and cutting-edge technology,” the song grew into a new life. It’s reassuring to see hip hop artists find new ways to utilize technology. Even more so, when the song and artwork is good too.
