The code of the beat.

Focus Gives In-Depth Beatmaking Demonstration

Revealing Beatmaking Video Offers More than Just a Glance into the Process of Acclaimed and Former Aftermath In-House Beatmaker

By Amir Said (Sa’id)

In one of the best beatmaking videos ever recorded, Focus gives an incredibly up-close and revealing look at his beatmaking process from concept to completion. Aside from the many jewels dropped in this video, the underscoring theme, the use of the combination of the sample-based and synthetic-sounds-based styles and traditional live instrumentation is absolutely amazing. Finally, it’s worth noting that this video is from 2006, way before YouTube beatmaking videos became somewhat fashionable and trendy. Even still, I rate this truly instructional video above most (if not all) footage that I’ve seen in the last two years!
